Conflict Assessment Workshop: Rivers

P4P Chapters across the Niger Delta region are conducting conflict assessments to better understand the issues and plan targeted peacebuilding activities. On April 16-17 the group in Rivers met to review findings from the Peace Map and determine their next steps on the road to sustainable peace.

Participatory Conflict Assessments

All nine P4P Niger Delta state chapters have begun their participatory conflict assessments which will directly inform their 2014 plans for conflict mitigation. During these workshops, participants analyze the existing quantitative data on patterns and trends in order to decide on a priority LGA for their intervention.

The "Mothers for Peace" initiative in Rivers State illustrates how wives, sisters, mothers, and daughters can intervene, using traditional conflict resolution mechanisms, when tensions are rising in the community. The footage for this video was filmed courtesy of Mothers for Peace and facilitated by Development Support Care and Empowerment Foundation. It was produced by the PIND Media Production Hub.
